Much ado about nothing
Summary act 1 scene 1-3


Scene 1
We are introduced to leonato, the governor of messina, his daughter Hero and his niece Beatrice. Leonato welcomes the soldiers who came home from battle. Don pedro of Aragon are one of the soldiers that came home, along with his brave young soldier Claudio. Beatrice asked don pedro about the health of another soldier, a man named signor benedict. Don pedro arrives at leonato’s house along with Claudio and benedick , they are all accompanied by don pedro’s brother Don john.  Later in the story Benedict and Beatrice would bicker.
Don pedro informs benedick, Claudio, and don john that they would be staying here for a month. Claudio asks benedict about what he thinks of hero, proclaiming his love for hero. Bendeick tells him that Claudio fancies hero and don pedro highly approves it. Don pedro put proposes a plan for Claudio, that don pedro would disguise himself as Claudio and declare his love for hero tonight at the costume ball.

Scene 2
In the house Leonato rushed himself to his elder brother Antonio. Antonio said that the servant overheard don pedro talking with Claudio, and he thinks that don pedro is in love with hero and wants to tell her tonight at the ball. Leonato would not approve this rumor until his daughter says so, and that he would not tell hero about all this.

Scene 3
Later on Conrad the servant asks don john why he appears angry and sad. Don john said that he is naturally depressed, that he lacks the will power to change his expression. Conrad tells don john that he should have a cheerful expression to maintain his friendship with his brother don pedro. Borachio another of his servant tells him about the rumour in the upcoming marriage between caludio and hero. And don john who does not like Claudio decides to try to use this information to make trouble for Claudio.
